Hefei is the capital city of Anhui province in China. There are 5 million people living here. The traffic is heavy here and they LOVE to honk the horns!! You seldom see women driving cars but we did see them on scooters here. There were more scooters here than in Beijing. There were alot of little green motorcycle taxis. David wanted to ride in one!
Geno worked in the hotel resturant. We saw him each morning and he made some pretty good omlets. He is 20 yeas old and studied culinary (sp) in Shanghi. He works alot. We would see him early in the morning and then at dinner each night. By the end of the week he knew what we wanted without even ordering. He was a friendly kid.
I really enjoyed seeing a panda bear on this trip. We did not go to a zoo on our last trip. There are few pandas to see in the states so this was a treat. See was asleep at first but woke up just for a picture. I believe she is 19 years old.
While stopped at a red light one day I look over and wondered what is that!!! I finially figured out they were pig skins hanging to dry. Snout and all. You will see this alot in China. Their supper hanging along with the wash on the cloths line.
There were a few hostess girls that we liked alot. Ruby was one of them. They loved the girls and would often show them lotsof attention. Everyone at this hotel was very friendly.
And last but certianly not least is our Hefei guide, Cindy. She is a wonderful girl. She only works with adoption families and she knows her stuff. She took very good care of us and we really enjoyed getting to know her. We celebrated Christmas eve with her. The girls really like her too. She is 25 and studied english lit (I think) at the university. She asked lots of questions about America and answered ours about China. She is a real sweetheart and we will miss her.
